Southern Cal denied that rapper Snoop Dogg was involved in the recruitment of Silas Redd.
On Tuesday, Pennlive.com reported that in John U. Bacon's upcoming book, "Fourth and Long: The Fight for the Soul of College Football," that Snoop Dogg picked up Redd at the airport in Los Angeles in a limousine.
USC courted Redd, who transferred from Penn State. The Pennlive.com report referred to Snoop Dogg's role as a "favor" and among the all-stops charge to land the highly-coveted Redd.
"Silas Redd has never met Snoop Dogg, much less received a ride from him in any type of vehicle," USC said in a statement on its website. "USC head coach Lane Kiffin picked up Silas from the airport on his recruiting visit."
On Tuesday, Redd denied the allegation, too.
"I've never met Snoop Dogg in my life, much less been in his limo," Redd told the Los Angeles Times . "Coach Kiffin picked me up from the airport. The person who wrote that has no credibility whatsoever."
Kiffin denied it, too, telling the Times that he did not contact Snoop Dogg about picking up Redd from the aiport. "Absolutely not," he said.
Redd left Penn State for USC prior to last season when Penn State players were allowed to transfer without penalty because of the NCAA sanctions handed down in the Jerry Sandusky case. He led the Trojans in rushing with 905 yards and nine touchdowns.
