With Oklahoma and Texas now in the SEC, the Big 12 Conference’s draw to some of the nation’s top football recruits might be a thing of the past.
Only two of the nation’s top 50 recruits from the Class of 2024 will make their college debuts in the Big 12 this fall — Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton and Texas Tech wide receiver Micah Hudson.
Between Oklahoma and Texas, the two schools have five Top 50 recruits from the Class of 2024.
Seaton, 6-foot-5 and 287 pounds, was the No. 13 overall recruit in the nation for his class and the No. 1 offensive tackle. The IMG (Florida) Academy product will also almost certainly step into the role of protecting the blind side of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders from his first game.

“I always liked (Colorado), but I was like, ‘Big 12? I want to play in the SEC,’” Seaton told The Athletic in Dec. 2023. “Competition makes me … I feel like I do better when it’s great competition. I like it. But the Big 12 has got a lot of great pass rushers. I love pass (protection). So kind of just looking at it from that aspect, it was like, ‘You know what? I can do this. I feel like I can be here.’”
Hudson, 6-foot and 185 pounds, was the No. 5 wide receiver recruit in the country and already projected as a first-round pick in the NFL Draft after putting up 70 receptions for 1,370 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2023.
