The wait is finally over; college football is officially back! With that comes a variety of opinions and predictions from analysts and experts who discuss what teams are going to do what this season. Of course, Ohio State is one of the main talking points.
In the recent Barstool Sports' podcast 'Pardon My Take', host Big Cat and On3 college football writer Andy Staples discussed the expectations that lie upon the Buckeyes' shoulders.
From the numerous returnees from last year's team to star acquisitions like Will Howard and Caleb Downs, Staples confidently stated that "there is no excuse. Not only should [Ohio State] win the Big Ten, they should win the National Title. There's no excuse".
Staples continued his high praise of the Buckeyes with an earlier statement regarding the freshman receiver, Jeremiah Smith, to further back up his championships or bust claim:
"Everybody else is going to know who [Jeremiah Smith] is once the season starts... Number one recruit in the nation for the class of 2024. You're not really going to miss [Marvin Harrison Jr.]... this is one of the best, most ready-made receivers that has come into college football in a long, long, long time".
Pairing Smith with the likes of fellow receiver Emeka Egbuka, as well as running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, there's no question why people expect so much out of this elite team.
As the Buckeyes look to take on the Akron Zips this Saturday, August 31, fans and analysts alike will be able to see firsthand if OSU can back up all of the hype.
