Not everyone is sold on the success of the TCU football program over the last few decades.

247Sports put the Horned Frogs on its list of the most overrated teams in the preseason Associated Press Top 25 since 2010, citing the five times TCU has appeared in the preseason rankings and finished the season unranked.

From 247Sports: “New year, new team and the Horned Frogs found out the hard way in 2023, one season after reaching the national championship game under Sonny Dykes. TCU opened last fall at No. 17 in the AP Poll before losing to first-year Colorado coach Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes. The Horned Frogs would go on to spiral late with six losses in their final eight games to finish 5-7 overall, well short of preseason expectations as a Big 12 title hopeful.”

TCU has also finished the season ranked in the AP Top 25 six times since 2010, including five Top 10 finishes and two No. 2 finishes in 2010 and 2022.

TCU opens the 2024 season on Aug. 30 at Stanford — one of only two Big 12 teams that will face another Power 4 school in their season openers.
