“So long, partners”
Just like in the tear-jerker scene from “Toy Story” when a grown-up Andy no longer needs Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and all of his memorable toy friends, the TCU Horned Frogs are sad to see the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners leave them from the Big 12 to the SEC.

Psych! The official TCU Athletics Twitter account nailed this epic burn. Our favorite is including heartbroken Longhorn and Sooner college football fans after especially depressing moments at the hands of the Horned Frogs.
Now in terms of the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff, TCU might be wishing Texas and Oklahoma were still in the Big 12. It’s likely that outside of the Big 12 winner, there will be many years where the Big 12 won’t have the strength of schedule, as compared to the juggernauts of the SEC and Big Ten, to get a second team in the mix. A third team will be a rarity, if ever.
Not to mention head coach Steve Sarkisian seems to be building a perennial powerhouse at Texas, which is the composite preseason No. 3 heading into 2024. And Brent Venables has a new contract and a formidable Oklahoma squad at No. 16. Although for Venables and the Sooners, it’s also a murderous introduction into the SEC.

TCU, on the other hand, is in a time of transition, middling along with a No. 43 preseason ranking, but still with the upside to contend for a Big 12 title (and an automatic CFP berth). Head coach Sonny Dykes has his worked cut out for him, only a couple of years removed from the national championship title game.
So off the field, TCU delivered a clear winner. On the field, Texas and Oklahoma will most likely have the last laugh.
