The 2022 Sporting News All-American Team is loaded with star players from three of the leading national championship contenders.

Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama each have three players on our first team.

The Bulldogs, the defending national champions, have tight end Brock Bowers, who averages 15.1 yards per catch with five total TDs, along with defensive tackle Jalon Carter and cornerback Christopher Smith.

Ohio State's loaded offense – which leads the FBS in points – has three standouts from that unit. That starts with Heisman Trophy front-runner C.J. Stroud, who has 1,737 passing yards and 24 TDs. Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and tackle Paris Johnson also made the first time.

Alabama has three players – starting with edge rusher Will Anderson, who continues to pile up sacks and tackles for loss as the one of the country's most-dynamic defensive players. Jahmyr Gibbs fills our athlete position, and return man Kool-Aid McKinstry also made the first team.

The Big Ten led all conferences with 10 players on our first-team. The SEC was second with nine players.

Sporting News is one of five outlets used to determine consensus All-American status, so it's a good idea to stay on this team. With that in mind, our picks for 2021 midseason All-Americans.
