South Carolina enters Year 4 of the Shane Beamer Era staring down a rigorous schedule while hoping to develop its new quarterback in sophomore LaNorris Sellers.

Sellers, a former four-star recruit, sat behind Spencer Rattler last season; he impressed in limited time, throwing for 86 yards and two touchdowns while running for 51 yards. The dual-threat QB was named the starter out of spring practice, winning the Gamecocks' quarterback competition.

On the flipside of the ball, South Carolina's defense has the pieces to be a formidable unit. Linebacker Debo Williams, a first-team All-SEC selection in 2023, is accompanied by five-star edge Dylan Stewart, an early enrollee who could make an immediate impact.

But little will come easy for the Gamecocks in 2024, not with the makings of an arduous schedule: As it stands now, seven of South Carolina's opponents are ranked inside the AP Top 25. From Sept. 14 to Nov. 2, the Gamecocks will play just one team — Akron — outside the preseason top 20.

After an underwhelming 5-7 campaign in 2023 — in which South Carolina missed a bowl game for the first time under Beamer — the pressure is on to at least break the six-win plateau in 2024.

The Sporting News has you covered with everything that you need to know in order to listen to South Carolina football this season.
