Penn State's College Football Playoff hopes are shattered.
The No. 8 Nittany Lions (4-2, 1-2 Big Ten) allowed a last-minute touchdown to Michigan State (4-2, 2-1) on Saturday for their second loss in as many games, both at home. The 21-17 defeat came two weeks after Penn State lost 27-26 to Ohio State at Beaver Stadium.

This is the second season in a row that the Nittany Lions have suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Spartans. Michigan State kicker Matt Coghlin stunned them with a game-winning field goal as time expired in East Lansing in 2017.
Penn State is three games behind No. 3 Ohio State (7-0, 4-0) in the win column in the Big Ten East Division.
