Christian Hackenberg hasn't thrown an interception in Penn State's last six games and has looked much better in Big Ten play, but he's struggled in the early going at Northwestern. An official's head was the unfortunate victim of that.
Hackenberg, on the Nittany Lions' second drive of the afternoon, had receiver Chris Godwin wide open over the middle on the play, but his pass hit the umpire in the head as he went down. It was one of Hackenberg's nine first-quarter incompletions. He ended the frame 3 of 12 for 19 yards.
