Smith was carted off the field during Saturday's win over Indiana after teammate Curtis Samuel was tackled and landed on Smith's right leg. He returned to the sidelines in an air cast.
Smith is the second wide receiver lost to injury. Sophomore Noah Brown, who earned a starting wide receiver spot in spring, broke his leg in training camp in August.
