No. 1 Georgia took a 65-7 lead late in the second half against No. 3 TCU. It appears the Cinderella run by the Horned Frogs will go by the wayside in dramatic fashion.
The Bulldogs have been college football's most dominant team in 2022, so watching them rout the Horned Frogs at SoFi Stadium won't come as a surprise to many. Most points scored in college football national championship game history
Georgia's performance in the first half alone ranked the Bulldogs tied for the 15th-most points in national championship history. By the end of the game, the Bulldogs had surpassed the Cornhuskers for the record.
The record was 62 set by Nebraska in the 1995 Fiesta Bowl between against Florida. The Cornhuskers blew out the Gators 62-24 that night. Georgia has tied the College Football Playoff record of 52 set by Alabama against Ohio State in 2020.

The last two times Georgia played in the national championship game, the Bulldogs scored 33 points against Alabama in 2021 and 23 against the Crimson Tide in 2017. Georgia has for more points against TCU than its previous two championship game appearances combined.

Most first-half points in a college football national championship game
Georgia on Monday became the third team in the College Football Playoff era to score more than 30 points in the first half of a title game. And the Bulldogs did more than reach the mark.
Alabama scored 35 in the first half of its victory over Ohio State in its 2020 national championship game win. Georgia surpassed that with 38 against TCU.
The only other team to score at least 30 points in a half was Clemson, in the 2018 title game. The Tigers scored 31 against Alabama and went on to win 44-16.
