Ahead of the upcoming Missouri-Texas A&M matchup in Week 6, Tigers quarterback Brady Cook made a viral comment that sent A&M fans into a frenzy.
In an Oct. 1 presser, Cook compared the fake noise emitted through speakers during Mizzou practices to the volume of a stadium. He said the noise used at his practices is louder.
“The noise at practice is actually louder" Cook said (h/t Yahoo Sports). "They put these big speakers pretty much two feet right behind me, and I mean, you can't hear anything, it's loud. In stadiums, it's loud, but it's like a surrounding kind of distant loud, so it's a little different. I think it's just as loud or louder and tougher to communicate. We’ve been doing that every single rep this week."
Texas A&M fans took offense to Brady Cook’s comments
Kyle Field, home of the Aggies, is one of the loudest stadiums in college football. Naturally, most of the A&M fanbase took Cook’s comments as a sign of major disrespect. The Tigers can now expect an even more hostile environment than anticipated as Aggies fans look to make Cook’s practice noises look like child’s play.
The pot has officially been stirred ahead of this blockbuster SEC showdown. Mizzou is a slight underdog on the road despite its superior ranking. The ninth-ranked Tigers are 4-0 to start the season and will look to remain undefeated with a statement win.
Despite their 4-1 record, the 25th-ranked Aggies have struggled to find offensive rhythm. In their latest win over Arkansas, their offense accumulated less than 300 total yards
With both teams vulnerable in different areas, college football diehards should tune in for a truly fascinating matchup. Cook’s recent comments, whether he intended them to or not, have only added fuel to the fire.
Former Texas linebacker and NFL veteran Sam Acho once called Kyle Field “the loudest place I have ever played.” It might feel that way for Brady Cook in Week 6.
