No Jim Harbaugh, no problem.
Michigan was without its head coach for the first of three games of a suspension for a sign-stealing scandal, and did not find out its attempt to get a temporary restraining order on the suspension would fail until just an hour before kickoff. But without their head coach on the sidelines in Happy Valley, No. 3 Michigan still controlled its contest against No. 10 Penn State, winning 24-15 on the backs of its defense and another huge effort from Blake Corum.
Corum finished the game having rushed 26 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy completed only seven-of-eight passes for 60 yards.
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar struggled, completing 10-of-22 passes for just 70 yards and one passing touchdown, which came with 1:59 left in the game and the game all but decided.
For much of the game, Penn State's defense did its part against Michigan. The Wolverines punted on both its first two drives, and was largely stifled in the second half, converting only a field goal off a turnover in the third quarter until the final five minutes of the game.
But Penn State's offense appeared to be stuck in neutral all game. The Nittany Lions had only three drives with more than six plays as their offense again struggled to convert in third-down situations, going just four-of-14 in third downs.

Michigan, which took a 14-9 lead into the second half, leaned on Corum and its running game throughout the second half. McCarthy attempted only one pass in the second half, and it wound up not going into the box score as it drew a pass interference penalty.
And with 4:21 left, when Penn State turned the ball over on downs at its own 30, it was Corum who brought down the hammer, scoring a 30-yard touchdown rush on the subsequent play to put Michigan up 24-9.
The win for Michigan gave the Wolverines their first win over a ranked opponent this season, and it officially brought the Big Ten East race down to a two-team race that will be decided in the final week of the regular season, when No. 1 Ohio State comes to Ann Arbor to face Michigan. Depending on the outcome of a court date on Friday, Harbaugh could either have his suspension put on hold in time for the game or be forced to miss both that contest and Michigan's next game against Maryland.

2:25 p.m.: Edwards bounces out to the right and is brought down just a yard short of the first down. 2:21 p.m.: Corum gets two yards on the ground, which brings up an early third-and-6, and a chance for Penn State to get off the field. Michigan uses its first timeout with the play clock running down.

1:51 p.m.: Crushing turnover for Penn State. Allar runs up the middle on a QB draw and gets the first down, but he is stripped of the ball and Makari Paige lands right on it. Michigan will have the ball at the Penn State 49.

He said while the program has been disappointed to hear about the allegations, it also feels that the conference skipped due process of a complete investigation in suspending Harbaugh on Friday.
Manuel described the suspension as "completely unethical" and "an assault on the rights of everyone (especially in the Big Ten) to be judged by a fair and complete investigation."
"All of the Head Coaches in the Big Ten (some who have been accused of actively participating in the trading of signals of opponents) and my Big Ten AD colleagues can rejoice today that someone was 'held accountable,' but they should be worried about the new standard of judgment (without complete investigation) that has been unleashed in this conference," Manuel said.
