It's the still the Big House, but it's now slightly smaller.

Michigan announced Friday that the official capacity of Michigan Stadium has decreased from 109,901 to 107,601. The release cited increased accessibility changes like hand rails and widened aisles as the primary reasons for change, along with "configuration adjustments for non-football events." Those non-football events included the NHL Winter Classic in 2013 and a Manchester United-Real Madrid game as a part of the 2014 International Champions Cup.

Michigan Stadium remains the nation's largest American football stadium. Penn State's Beaver Stadium is second at 106,572.

"Our facilities group has done a phenomenal job in increasing the accessibility of Michigan Stadium while minimizing the reduction in seat locations," said Associate Athletic Director for External Communications Kurt Svoboda. "These shifts have taken place over several seasons; each adjustment causes a ripple effect in seating due to the large number of season ticket holders at U-M. We are incredibly thankful for the response of fans who have been affected by changes in seat locations."
