The Miami Hurricanes dismissed highly-touted freshman wide receiver Sam Bruce on Monday citing off-the-field issues.
According to a news release sent to USA Today , Bruce’s dismissal was “based on multiple violations of team rules and a failure on his part to meet the clear expectations established to be a part of the Miami football program".

The four-star prospect and Under Armour All-American would have been eligible to return to the team this week following a three-game suspension for violating team rules.
Bruce was forced to withdraw from one of high school football's most prestigious schools, St. Thomas Aquinas, in February after a photo surfaced of him holding a gun.
The Hurricanes released Bruce just days after suffering a tight loss against rival Florida State. Miami (4-1) fell to 16th in the AP poll.
“We wish Sam well with his future academic and football endeavors,” Miami said in its statement.
