Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire fractured his ankle in the second half against Virginia on Saturday night and is out for the rest of the season, coach Brian Kelly said.

He was unable to put any weight on the ankle. Zaire was 7 for 18 with 115 passing yards and a touchdown while running for 87 yards on 10 carries before exiting the game.

DeShone Kizer (5 things you should know about Kizer) replace Zaire and hit 8 of 12 for 92 yards including the game-winner to Will Fuller from 39 yards with 12 seconds left in the game.
