What better way to begin the season than with a rematch of last year's bowl game? That's the case for Kansas and UNLV.
The two programs face off for just the fourth time in Week 3 of the 2024 college football season. They last met in December in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix, a game which the Jayhawks took care of 49-36. UNLV will face Kansas in Kansas City this time around.
UNLV may not be a huge team, but it's mighty. The Rebels made it to the Mountain West championship last year before losing to Boise State. Regardless, it clinched a spot in its first bowl game in nine years and second since 2000.
Meanwhile the Jayhawks made a drastic improvement in 2023, improving from a 2-10 record in 2021 to 9-4. The Big 12's realignment will provide a challenge for the rising program, and Kansas has a chance to live up to it.
It may not be the biggest game of the week, but the Kansas-UNLV matchup will be a true test to what each team is capable of this season.
