One former Kansas Jayhawks quarterback will have multiple options to continue his football career, after Jason Bean was selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 UFL Draft by the Memphis Showboats.
The UFL plays in the spring and is made up of eight teams, with the draft consisting strictly of players who weren’t selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. Bean is currently on the roster of the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent, with training camp set to begin on July 24.
From KUSports.com: “The United Football League, which takes place during the spring, just completed its first season after it had been formed by a merger of two previous professional leagues, the XFL and USFL.”
Bean, 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, played six seasons of college football. He spent the first three seasons at North Texas before transferring to Kansas, where he threw for career highs of 2,130 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2023 to go with 280 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.
Bean was named the Guaranteed Rate Bowl MVP in 2023 after throwing for 449 yards and setting the Big 12 record with 6 touchdown passes in a 49-36 win over UNLV.
