Watkins was booked into Alachua County Jail in Gainesville on charges of domestic battery by strangulation and false imprisonment/kidnapping, which are third-degree felonies, and two counts of battery causing bodily harm, which are first-degree misdemeanors, according to jail records. Bond has not been set.

Watkins' arrest and suspension were first reported by 247Sports and The Orlando Sentinel.

This is Watkins' second encounter with law enforcement in less than three months. He was arrested May 9 on trespassing charges in Ocala, Fla., after he allegedly kicked a female's car, broke her phone and then followed her to Vanguard High in Ocala, where she was a student.

Watkins was a highly touted member of the Gators' 2018 signing class; 247Sports gave the Under Armour All-American a four-star rating and ranked him as the 89th-best player in the nation.
