The party was on inside the Superdome late Monday night as LSU enjoyed a big lead over Clemson in the College Football Playoff championship game. Even Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow got in on the action.
Of course, in the spirit of the Big Easy, things got bawdy.
Burrow and Bayou Bengals backers were rocking to the LSU band's rendition of the mid-'80s hit "Talkin' Out The Side Of Your Neck," or what's better known in college football circles as just "Neck." For those who know, that one obscene ad-lib line was heard loud and clear in the Superdome — and over ESPN's airwaves. (That ad-lib was the reason the band stopped playing the song for a while.) Burrow didn't recite the line, it appeared, but he was keeping in rhythm while riding an exercise bike (he suffered a rib injury in the first half).
LSU closed out a 42-25 victory soon after that musical interlude. Burrow was responsible for all six Tigers touchdowns (five passing, one rushing), in the process breaking two FBS records previously held by former Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan: most touchdown passes (60) and most total touchdowns (65).
