The Hawkeyes had a chance to close the game out when it took over with a one-point lead with 3:41 left in the game needing a one first down, but they went three-and-out. The Bison took over with 1:44 left in the game on their own 34 yard line. A big run by NDSU quarterback Easton Stick and a couple of runs set up the 37-yard field goal for the win.
North Dakota State controlled the tempo for the whole game, wearing down the Hawkeyes' defense with a strong run game. The Bison outrushed Iowa 239-24 and kept the defense on the field for 36:40.
This was NDSU's sixth consecutive win against FBS competition. Oregon, you're on upset alert in 2020.
