Houston's shot at the College Football Playoff is over.
Saturday, the sixth-ranked Cougars were knocked off by Navy, 46-40, and are essentially out of the running to crash the CFP. The upset gave the Midshipmen their first win over a top-10 team since 1984, when they knocked off No. 2 South Carolina 38-21.

Using its patented triple option offense, Navy racked up 306 yards on the ground, led by quarterback Will Worth's 115 rushing yards. Houston had not allowed more than 70 rushing yards all season (Oklahoma), but was gashed by Worth and six other Midshipment rushers as it allowed 4.9 yards per carry.
Worth was also efficient through the air, going 3 for 5 for 72 yards and two touchdowns, giving Navy its first game with more than two passing touchdowns since 2014.
Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. was the lone bright star of the Cougars' offense. He was 31 for 49 with 361 passing yards and three touchdowns, and added 94 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, but he struggled to protect the ball, commiting all three of Houston's turnovers.
