Cincinnati gets it long-awaited swipe at a Power 5 team in the Peach Bowl against Georgia as the Bearcats hope to prove their resume was worthy of a berth in the College Football Playoff.
No. 8 Cincinnati (9-0) most recently defeated Tulsa 27-24 to win its first-ever American Athletic Conference title. The Bearcats claim wins over two additional ranked teams (Army and SMU) and have ridden the strength of their defense to an undefeated record. Allowing just 310.8 yards per game, Cincinnati's defense ranks No. 8 in the country.
The Peach Bowl could be a game of similar styles, as No. 9 Georgia (7-2) also boasts a top-15 defense allowing 322.8 yards a game against an SEC-exclusive schedule. The Bulldogs' two slip-ups came in shootouts with two of the nation's best offenses in Alabama and Florida.
Georgia's offense struggled to hit its stride early in the season as the Bulldogs rotated the quarterback position between D'Wan Mathis and Stetson Bennett before ultimately settling on USC transfer JT Daniels. Daniels has thrown for 839 yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception in three starts. He'll be opposed by Cincinnati's Desmond Ritter who led the AAC in completion percentage (66.4).
