There's a lot on the line when Florida State hosts Memphis on Saturday. Not only will Seminoles coach Mike Norvell face his old program, but both squads will make a statement to the College Football Playoff committee.

While it's early in the season, this matchup has postseason implications. All fans know about the FSU snub in 2023, and the Noles entered this year with something to prove. It's been anything but that, though. Now led by quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, Florida State lost its first two games of the season, likely eliminating the program the 12-team playoff.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are one of the non-Power 4 schools vying for a spot in the playoff. They would love nothing more than going into Nole territory and beat their former coach for a statement win.

While Memphis didn't win the American conference championship last year, it went 10-3 and will be a strong contender should the team pick up big non-conference wins as well as a conference title.
