A second-quarter targeting penalty in the Florida-Vanderbilt led to a shouting match between Commodores coach Derek Mason and Gators head coach Dan Mullen and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
The issue started when Florida's James Houston IV was called for targeting on a Gators punt return when he used a crackback block on Dare Odeyingbo, who was fairly removed from the action.

Mason went to check on his injured player, which sparked a war of words between him and Grantham. That caused Mullen to get involved, and he needed to be held back by officials to keep from getting closer to Mason. That, in turn, caused both teams' benches to clear, though it didn't get any worse than a shouting match.

Houston was ejected, as was Florida linebacker Vosean Joseph, who was called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Odeyingbo later returned to the field.
Vanderbilt went into halftime leading the 14th-ranked Gators 21-13.
