Finishing the season below six wins and missing a bowl game for the first time since 2017, Florida's 2023 campaign was not the year Gator fans hoped it to be. However, Florida ranks fourth in the SEC in terms of returning production for 2024, with 68 percent of the team heading back to Gainesville for the 2024 season.

That being said, the Gators have a difficult schedule coming up, with nine opponents from ESPN's "Way-Too-Early" top 25.

Florida added 12 players through the transfer portal in the offseason to try and bolster its roster ahead of the gauntlet, including safety Asa Turner from Washington, cornerback Jameer Grimsley from Alabama and defensive lineman Joey Slackman from Penn, the 2023 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year.

Coach Billy Napier is also signing the 14th best recruiting class in the country, adding 19 commits to the active roster. Five-star quarterback DJ Lagway, the Gatorade and MaxPreps National Player of the Year, and offensive lineman LJ McCray, the 10th ranked player in the country, will join the Gators.

Despite several transfer portal exits, the Gators sport a ton of returning talent. Starting quarterback Graham Mertz is on his way back for the 2024 season, as is Montrell Johnson Jr., who will lead the running back room after the departure of Trevor Etienne. Wide receiver Eugene Wilson Jr. is also looking to impress in his sophomore season.

Defensively, lineman Cam Jackson, linebacker Shemar James and safety Jordan Castell all return to boost Florida's defensive prowess, which will be aided by the transfer additions of Turner and Slackman, among others.

Here's what to know to watch Florida's Orange and Blue game in 2024.
