College football comes to a peak in December. Not because the playoffs begin, but before that as the first selection is made for the 12-team College Football Playoffs.

A quarterfinal matchup, a lot is weighing on this game. However, participating teams won't be known until the CFP begins. Who will play in the Fiesta Bowl 2024?
The teams that will play in the 2024 Fiesta Bowl will be decided partially on CFP Selection Day (Dec. 8) and following the first round of the playoffs. Stay tuned to see who heads to Glendale for the quarterfinal matchup.
College Football Playoff 2024-25 format, bracket
In this year's CFP, the top-four teams will earn a bye to the quarterfinals while seeds 5-12 will play a first round game. The top teams will be the top-ranked conference winners.
On Dec. 8, Selection Day, the committee will assign games to the 12 teams headed to the playoffs. For those headed straight to the quarterfinals, they will play one of four bowl games: Fiesta Bowl, Rose Bowl, Peach Bowl and Sugar Bowl. Bowl designations will be determined based on geographical location and a team's historical relationship to the game.
The semifinals will be played at the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl while the national championship will be in Atlanta.
Because of the elimination-style bracket, participating teams and matchups will not be revealed until the playoffs commence and teams win their way through each round.
