The Big 12 Conference still has some punch on the recruiting trail despite a turnover that’s seen Oklahoma and Texas leave for the SEC and eight new teams added in the last two seasons.

In ESPN’s rankings of the Top 40 football recruiting classes in the country for 2025, TCU grabbed the top spot in the Big 12 at No. 13.

The Horned Frogs have three ESPN Top 300 recruits, led by quarterback Ty Hawkins and edge rushers Chad Woodfork — TCU leapt up 10 spots from No. 23 in the last round of rankings.

From ESPN: “The Horned Frogs made a run to the national title (runner-up) in 2022. But now, coming off a five-win season, they're looking to infuse more talent and spark another ascension. They landed in-state ESPN 300 quarterback Ty Hawkins, a passer with a strong arm and smooth release. He's thrown for over 2,000 yards each of his last two high school seasons, and as a junior, he completed nearly 70% of his passes …On defense, the Frogs have added some talented pieces to their front. Woodfork was a big in-state win and is an explosive defender.”

Other Big 12 schools to make the list were No. 29 UCF, No. 31 West Virginia, No. 32 Oklahoma State, No. 34 Cincinnati, No. 37 Texas Tech and No. 38 Arizona State.
