Kansas State might have one of the most talented rosters in the Big 12 Conference, even if their very best players might be largely unproven at this point in their careers.
ESPN’s Greg McElroy has the Wildcats at No. 19 in his preseason Top 25 rankings — Kansas State is one of six Big 12 teams to make the Top 25 along with No. 16 Oklahoma State, No. 18 Utah, No. 22 Arizona, No. 23 West Virginia and No. 24 Kansas.
Kansas State has a new starting quarterback in sophomore Avery Johnson, who closed out last season with a win over No. 19 North Carolina State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where he earned MVP honors. The Wildcats also return running back D.J. Giddens and have a top transfer in running back Dylan Edwards, who spent his freshman season at Colorado.
Kansas State opens the season on Aug. 31 at home against Tennessee-Martin.
