Division II players face attempted murder, drug charges image

Five players at Division II Minot State were arrested Friday near the campus and face serious charges.

Four of the players—Kwajo Bonsu, Thomas Armstrong, Grant Jansen and Leon Ladeaux—were charged with drug-related misdemeanors. Jesse Ili received the most serious charges—attempted murder, according to kxnet.com. Ili is named a player in the report, but isn't listed on the Minot State roster.

Two police officers were injured after chasing one of the suspects near the North Dakota school campus. One officer had minor injuries but the other one was knocked unconscious, creating the attempted murder charge.

Police were responding to a call about possible drug activity in a vehicle at a parking complex.

Minot State said in a statement that the five players have been suspended.
