BYU is trying to bounce back from a disastrous first year in the Big 12 Conference in 2023, when the Cougars struggled to a 5-7 record, including a 2-7 mark in Big 12 play.
If BYU does turn things around in 2024, defensive end Tyler Batty will have to play a big part, which the Big 12 media recognized when they made him the lone BYU player selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
Batty, 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, had career highs of 54 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in 2023. He had 6 quarterback pressures in 2023 and his 15 career quarterback pressures is third among all BYU players since 2000.
BYU opens the season on Aug. 31 at home against Southern Illinois.
