Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been one of the most polarizing signal-callers in recent history across the NFL, though he silenced his doubters quite well with his performance on Thursday in the 45-10 win over the Commanders.
Dallas' offense produced five touchdowns in a relentless effort, taking advantage of a Washington defense that traded top pass-rushers Montez Sweat and Chase Young in October.
Prescott has been stellar since his rough outing against the 49ers earlier in the season, and his latest big-time performance could spark some MVP buzz amid one of his best seasons to date.
Here's a look into where Prescott stands statistically and more.
Dak Prescott stats today
Prescott's performance on Thursday was the key factor in just how dominant of a victory the Cowboys were able to put up over the holiday.
The Mississippi State product got off to a hot start, opening things up by taking Dallas 90 yards down the field on an 11-play drive that culminated in a 15-yard touchdown pass to running back Rico Dowdle. That marked just the beginning of what would turn into three back-to-back touchdown drives.
It marks the third performance of the season in which Prescott has passed for four touchdowns in a single game. In addition to obviously reaching the end zone multiple times and especially lighting it up in the fourth quarter as the Cowboys put some 25 points on the board, Prescott also did a fine job of spreading it around, distributing the ball to 10 different targets.
He was also interception-free with very few decision-making errors, though there were a couple passes in there he'd probably like the opportunity to do over.
Game | Comp | Att | Yds | TD | INT |
vs. Commanders | 22 | 32 | 331 | 4 | 0 |
This is a good sign from the quarterback perspective for Dallas, as Prescott seems to have been in a strong rhythm as of late and is maintaining continuity in a significant way.
Red zone play was also ace on Thursday as Prescott and the offense made points out of a trio of trips into the red zone.

Here's a look into how Prescott has performed statistically over 11 games in 2023.
Dak Prescott stats
So far this season, he has completed 70.1% of his passes for 2,604 yards with 19 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Game | Comp | Att | Yds | TD | INT |
vs. Commanders | 22 | 32 | 331 | 4 | 0 |
vs. Panthers | 25 | 38 | 189 | 2 | 0 |
vs. Giants | 26 | 35 | 404 | 4 | 1 |
vs. Eagles | 29 | 44 | 374 | 3 | 0 |
vs. Rams | 25 | 31 | 304 | 4 | 1 |
vs. Chargers | 21 | 30 | 272 | 1 | 0 |
vs. 49ers | 14 | 24 | 153 | 1 | 3 |
vs. Patriots | 28 | 34 | 261 | 1 | 0 |
vs. Cardinals | 25 | 40 | 249 | 1 | 1 |
vs. Jets | 31 | 38 | 255 | 2 | 0 |
vs. Giants | 13 | 24 | 143 | 0 | 0 |
These are MVP types of numbers as Prescott now leads the league in passing touchdowns with a total of 23. How that shifts after the rest of the week's games play out will have some impact on just how strong that lead is, but there's no question Prescott deserves credit where credit is due.
And if one thing is clear, it's that he has the full support of coach Mike McCarthy.
“I love Dak Prescott as our quarterback,” McCarthy said in an appearance on Mad Dog Radio earlier this season. “I think the way he’s built all the way through, obviously his physical skill set is excellent. But what he endures mentally and emotionally compared to the other 31 [NFL starting quarterbacks] is unique. Speaking on experience of being around great quarterbacks [Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, etc.], I’ve never seen a quarterback under a microscope like he is. Just his consistency, his personality and work ethic, and how he handles all that, and navigates all that, and he goes out and performs every week, I think it’s special what he has to endure.”
The Cowboys are currently on a three-game winning streak, and they'll look to keep the good times rolling as they face the Seahawks up next on the schedule on Thursday at AT&% Stadium.
