Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell says Kansas State offered $600K for Rams’ quarterback image

Colorado State head ccoach Jay Norvell is claiming that Kansas State — or someone affiliated with Kansas State — offered Colorado State quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi $600,000 to transfer and play for the Wildcats.

"(Fowler-Nicolosi) said that a guy from Kansas State called and offered him $600,000 (if he entered the transfer portal) because they lost their quarterback," Norvell said. "I'm not accusing Kansas State of anything, I'm just telling you what the kid told me. If they don't want their name thrown in it, I think they should probably get a handle on their people."

Norvell did not indicate exactly who made the offer to Fowler-Nicolosi, who went 5-7 as a starter in 2023 with 3,460 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

Kansas State did lose its starting quarterback from 2023, but did so on purpose. Will Howard transferred to Ohio State, where he’ll start for one of the best teams in the nation, and sophomore Avery Johnson takes his place after he started the final game of 2023, earning Pop-Tarts Bowl MVP honors in a 28-19 win over No. 19 North Carolina State.

This isn’t the first time Norvell has said something wild with a microphone in his face. Norvell, who is 8-16 in two seasons at Colorado State, took a shot at Colorado head coach Deion Sanders last season before the two played in Boulder.

"I sat down with ESPN today," Norvell said. "I don't care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, I took my hat off and I took my glasses off. I said when I talk to grown ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That's what my mother taught me. (Colorado's) not going to like us no matter what we say or do."

Colorado won the game, 43-35.
