Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders could be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s already grabbed another No. 1 spot headed into what will almost certainly be his final season of college football in 2024.
Sanders landed in the No. 1 spot of the 247Sports Top 25 quarterback rankings released on Aug. 7. Through three seasons — two at Jackson State and one at Colorado — Sanders has thrown for 10,193 yards, 97 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while completing almost 70 percent of his passes.
Sanders was one of five Big 12 Conference quarterbacks to make the list along with No. 9 Noah Fifita (Arizona), No. 11 Jalon Daniels (Kansas), No. 14 Garrett Greene (West Virginia) and No. 19 Cam Rising (Utah).
Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard, who is now the starter at Ohio State, came in at No. 12.
From 247Sports: “The best of Shedeur Sanders is yet to come. That may not even come in the college ranks unless Colorado's offensive line makes a noticeable step forward in his final season. The truth is, Sanders would start for just about every team nationally given his skill set and his arm is one of the strongest nationally. He officially had 11 starts, but only played a couple series against Washington State in November before leaving the Buffaloes' penultimate contest with an injury. He'll have a chance this season to ascend to top quarterback billing ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft if Colorado gets to bowl eligibility behind his leadership.”
The Buffaloes open the season on Aug. 31 at home against North Dakota State.
