It’s no secret that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is a hot commodity among NFL teams almost one year out from the 2025 NFL Draft — he would have almost certainly been a first-round pick if he’d entered the 2024 NFL Draft.
The latest 2025 NFL mock draft on WalterFootball.com has Sanders, the son of Colorado head coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, staying in Colorado and going to the Denver Broncos with the No. 1 overall pick.
The Broncos used a first-round pick in 2024 on a quarterback, taking Oregon’s Bo Nix with the No. 12 overall pick.
From WalterFootball.com: “The Broncos drafted Bo Nix, but if they are so bad in 2024 that they land the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they’ll almost certainly repeat what the Cardinals did when Arizona gave up on Josh Rosen after one year by drafting Kyler Murray. Shedeur Sanders has a high football IQ and great leadership skills. He doesn’t have a stellar arm, but it’s good enough for him to be a top-five pick.”
Sanders, 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in 11 games in 2023 behind a porous offensive line — he was sacked 52 times. The Buffaloes also had one of the nation’s worst rushing attacks as freshman Dylan Edwards led Colorado with 321 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.
Colorado went 4-8 in 2023, Deion Sanders’ first season, and opens the 2024 season on Aug. 29 at home against North Dakota State.
