There is just one game on the college football slate this weekend, but it's an annual tradition between the armed forces.
Saturday is the yearly Army-Navy football game, marking the official end of the college football regular season. The Midshipmen and the Black Knights are in Massachusetts this year, as Foxborough is the location for this year's rivalry game.
Army has bounced back quite nicely after a rough start to the 2023 season. The Black Knights were 2-5 at one point, coming off an ugly loss to UMass and facing top-25 ranked Air Force. However, Jeff Monken's unit delivered an upset win, kicking off a string of three victories in a row to enter the Navy game sitting at 5-6.
For Navy, it's been an inconsistent 2023 campaign. The Midshipmen are also 5-6, but have bounced up and down from .500. After a 1-1 start, Brian Newberry's group have flip-flopped between two-game winning streaks and losing streaks. Most recently, Navy was throttled at the hands of SMU.
In addition to the Army-Navy game, it's Heisman weekend. The winner of the 2023 honor will be announced on Saturday night. LSU's Jayden Daniels, Ohio State's Marvin Harrison, Washington's Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon's Bo Nix are the final four candidates.
