A wild week in college football proved to be another huge one for Lamar Jackson, the clear favorite to win the 2016 Heisman Trophy.
Jackson posted another gaudy stat line despite throwing the ball just 17 times in Louisville's 52-7 win at Boston College on Saturday.
MORE: Top 25 scores, stats
His numbers on the day: 12 for 17 passing for 231 yards and four touchdowns, and 15 carries for 185 yards and three TDs. Jackson did turn the ball over twice — one interception and a fumble — but when your team scores seven touchdowns and you account for all of them, these things tend to be forgiven.
On the third play of the game, Jackson ran for a 69-yard score, and he added a 53-yard scoring run in the second half. With Jackson's third touchdown pass of the game, the Cardinals opened a 28-0 lead on the second play of the second quarter.
BENDER: Louisville shouldn't need to win ACC to get CFP opportunity
Jackson was sidelined with cramps in his forearm for Louisville's final two possessions of the first half, something that doesn't seem to cause coach Bobby Petrino too much stress.
"I think he should be good," Petrino said. "He looked pretty good in the second half."
Elijah Hood, North Carolina, RB
The North Carolina junior had a first quarter to remember, carrying the ball seven times for 114 and two touchdowns, one for 36 yards, against Georgia Tech. The only people who didn’t seem to notice were the Tar Heels' coaching staff, as Hood didn’t get the ball once in the second quarter.
So Elijah Hood had seven carries for 114 yards at the end of the first quarter and now has 7 carries for 114 yards at halftime?

Umm...
Did Elijah Hood have a carry in the second quarter?

UNC coach Larry Fedora didn't keep his big back on ice for too much longer, though. On the Tar Heels' first drive of the second half, Hood had back-to-back carries of 11 and 15 yards to set up a first-and-goal, and on second down, he scored on a 2-yard run. After the PAT, North Carolina was up 34-20 and went on to win 48-20.
Hood finished with 12 carries for 168 yards and three touchdowns. It is is the second three-touchdown game of his North Carolina career.
Nick Weiler, North Carolina, K
Kickers typically don't get much love in our weekly top performers, but Hood's teammate Nick Weiler deserves it.
Weiler made two field goals against Georgia Tech, one for 50 yards. It was his third successful kick this season of 50-plus yards, tying Dan Orner’s UNC record.

This season may not be the last we see of the senior.
Nick Weiler is kicking his way into a shot at the NFL next season ... Three 50 yarders is no fluke .. .and that one was against the wind

Luke Falk, Washington State, QB
Washington State rolled to a 69-7 win over Arizona, and Falk was practically perfect. He completed 32 of 35 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns before giving way to backup Tyler Hilinski, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns of his own. Falk now has 29 touchdown passes this season for the 25th-ranked Cougars.

Arkansas looked fresh off a bye week in a 31-10 upset over No. 11 Florida. The Gators had no answer for Williams out of the backfield. The sophomore from Dallas carried the ball 26 times for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

Curtis Samuel, Ohio State, RB
In a 62-3 Ohio State thrashing of No. 10 Nebraska, Samuel hauled in two of J.T. Barrett’s four touchdown passes and finished the night with eight catches for 137 yards. It’s the back’s second game this season with more than 135 yards receiving and multiple touchdown receptions.
