The 2023 college football season has all come down to this.

The College Football Playoff field was set on Sunday, ranking Michigan No. 1, Washington No. 2, Texas No. 3 and Alabama No. 4. There's no Georgia. No Ohio State. And, most controversially, no undefeated Florida State.

Michigan and Washington come into the College Football Playoff as undefeated conference champions, who throughout the season have looked the part of CFP-bound teams.

Texas certainly appeared to be on that course after beating Alabama in Week 2, but lost to Oklahoma and had a few other close calls before catching fire late in the season. Alabama appeared to be in a down year following the loss to Texas and a narrow win over South Florida, but with wins over LSU, Ole Miss and Georgia, there are still signs of how dangerous this Crimson Tide squad can be.

Alabama moneyline +100 vs. Michigan

The Wolverines have reached new heights in recent years with Jim Harbaugh, now having won three straight games against Ohio State and three straight Big Ten titles. But one issue has persisted: bowl game wins. Michigan hasn't won a bowl game since the 2015 Citrus Bowl, when Michigan beat Florida. The Crimson Tide don't have that problem. Nick Saban's teams have won at least one bowl game in eight straight years, with three national championships sprinkled in. There's more reasons to expect Alabama to win: Jalen Milroe has been red-hot and J.J. McCarthy has been spotty in recent weeks; Michigan has played much closer games against top-tier opponents, while the Crimson Tide have won by a few blowouts. But this is more putting trust in Saban to get it done in the playoff as he often does.

Washington-Texas OVER 64.5 (-110)

Unless the over/under on this game gets too high, hitting the over feels like an easy call. These are two high-octane offenses facing off against defenses that have their issues. Washington and Texas rank 11th and 16th in scoring offense this year, respectively, and both feature plenty of talent at the skill positions, particularly at wide receiver. The Huskies and Longhorns also rank second and 16th in passing plays over 30 yards, meaning they should be able to score quickly. Remember Michigan-TCU last year? This game has that potential.

Washington +4.5 (-115) vs. Texas

Maybe not picking the Huskies to win just yet, but come within five points? Certainly. Washington has been underrated all season, and the Huskies are much healthier than the Longhorns, with all their receivers healthy and their starting running back in, while Xavier Worthy is a bit banged up and Jonathan Brooks is out for the year. Washington was a 9.5-point underdog against Oregon, and wound up winning. Oddsmakers haven't believed in the Huskies all year. And right now, at +4.5, those feel like favorable odds to take on Washington.
