Sequels are rarely as good as the original, but BYU’s Taysom Hill showed Saturday that they still can provide thrills.

Hill led the Cougars to a 41-7 victory over Texas in Charlie Strong's second game as the Longhorns head coach.

A year ago, BYU drilled Texas, 40-21, a rout that started the chain of events that led to Mack Brown stepping down as head coach. In that game, Hill ran for 259 yards and three scores. He was good again this time.

In Saturday's win, Hill ran for 99 yards and three touchdowns. His signature scene came with 12:06 left in the third quarter. When the pocket collapsed, Hill broke for the end zone and avoided a Longhorn defender by leaping over him inside the 10 to complete a 30-yard touchdown run.

"I knew I was one-on-one with the safety and they'd been diving at me all game," Hill told reporters of the leap.

While Hill didn't manage the rushing yards that he piled up a year ago, he completed twice as many passes (18 to 9) and threw for more yards (181 to 129).

On the other side of the ball, Tyrone Swoopes stepped in to start for Texas with David Ash sidelined with another head injury. Swoopes finished 20 for 31 for for 176 yards and showed flashes, but an interception and Texas' struggles on third down (3 of 15 conversions) did him in Saturday.
