Brock Turner, the former Stanford swimmer convicted of sexually assaulting an intoxicated and unconscious woman, is set to be released from jail Sept. 2, according to Business Insider. That date marks just three months from when judge Aaron Persky handed Turner what many saw as an extremely light sentence of six months.

Turner is being granted the early release for good behavior.
Two graduate students witnessed the incident for which Turner is imprisoned in Santa Clara County. Upon being discovered committing the rape, Turner tried to run but was chased down and apprehended by the witnesses.
Persky has been dealing with backlash of his own after meting out the six-month sentence to Turner on three sexual assault felony counts. Jurors were refusing to serve in his courtroom and more than one million people signed a petition calling for his judgeship to stripped. He has recused himself from hearing criminal or sex cases and was voluntarily moved to civil court.
