The sample size for Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita was big enough in 2023, at eight games, to draw some conclusions. Mainly, that this dude can ball.
Fifita started just nine games and threw for 2,869 yards, 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, going 7-2 and averaging 311.1 yards per game in his starts. 247Sports has Fifita projected as the No. 2 passer in the country in 2024 because of those numbers. Arizona finished the season 10-3 and ranked No. 11 in the final AP Top 25 Poll.
Across 13 games, Fifita’s numbers would project to approximately 4,000 passing yards and 35 touchdowns.
Fifita, 5-foot-11 and 194 pounds, was named Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and will play his sophomore year against a whole new set of competition as the Wildcats are one of four teams from the Pac-12 to make the move to the Big 12 Conference.
From 247Sports: “When the redshirt freshman ascended to the starting lineup, though, he instantly exploded, and there was no looking back. Across his nine starts, Fifita averaged 311.11 yards and racked up 25 touchdowns. Had he been a Day 1 starter with that production, Fifita would have ranked fifth in the race for the national passing title. His return, and that of star wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, gives the Wildcats arguably the best quarterback-wide receiver tandem in the land.”
Fifita and McMillan were teammates at Servite (Calif.) High School.
All this talk about Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter being the best QB-WR duo in the country. They aren’t even the best duo in their conference!
