For the second straight year, Alabama faces USF in a college football battle. It will be just the third overall meeting between the programs.
Last year, the Tide got a 17-3 over the Bulls in Tampa. It was a massive bounce back for the Tide after losing to Texas the previous week. Still, Alabama has more to prove this time around. As the SEC and the CFP expands, the Tide need to put on a showing that proves the programs' dominance, especially as Kalen DeBoer gets his feet under him.
USF opened their season last week with a 48-3 win over Bethune-Cookman. The Bulls will have to do even better to upset Alabama in Tuscaloosa, though. Still, if USF can find some consistency and momentum early this season, it's not for nothing. If it can win the American conference at the end of the season, it will earn a way into the CFP.
But that's down the road, and it starts against the Tide.
