Months after winning the national championship, Alabama has given raises to several assistant football coaches. According to AL.com, the amended contracts with the raises were approved by the UA Board of Trustees Compensation Committee on Tuesday.

Outside linebackers coach and now co-defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi and running backs/special teams coach Burton Burns were among those with the largest increases. Burton increased from $345,000 to $475,000, the report says. Strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran increased to more than half a million with his $525,000.

In December, Cochran turned down new Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, drawing attention to his salary and the potential for a raise. The salary reported by AL.com ties him with the 2015 head coach salary of South Alabama’s Joey Jones and puts him ahead of several other head coaches, according to a USA Today database

Overall, the nine assistant coaches will receive 11.2 percent less than last season, in part because Jeremy Pruitt’s $1 million contract is less than departed Smart’s $1.5 million, the report states as it outlines all of the assistants salaries.

Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin failed to get a raise and will make $714,000 in the third year of his contract, subsidized by the buyout after he was fired as USC head coach in 2013.

In addition, women’s basketball coach Kristy Curry reportedly got a raise of $40,000 to $420,000 through 2020.
