Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia had some strong, pent-up resentment against Alabama that even became a strong accusation on the Dan Patrick Show.
When asked about any potential "chirping" from Alabama pre-game, Pavia had a detailed answer describing the over-confident Bama players.
"They were laughing, talking … I can’t say on the show because I can’t curse, but they were talking crazy … We didn’t even shake their hands after [the coin toss]. We just took off the sideline," Pavia revealed the lesser-known detail.
Not only that, Pavia also accused Bama players of trash-talking their opponents pre-game; the main reason why Pavia looked the other way post-game.
"At the beginning of the game, as a captain I go out there for the coin toss, they were talking crazy," Pavia said. "They thought they were going to come in here and treat us like we were an FCS team. We were like, 'What? Oh, you must not know.' You know what I mean? 'Alright, we’re going to see.' That’s what I kept telling them."
The QB's 252 yards for 2 touchdowns and 16-of-20 completed passes were enough of a show for Alabama to dial down the downplaying.
Diego Pavia's NSFW outburst post-game makes sense
The Vandy QB's post-game burst "Vanderbilt, we're f**king turnt," made some sizzling headlines. Although Pavia later apologized for the language, his excitement behind it all seems plausible after the accusation he made.
Additionally, it was not just the reported belittling that justified it. The tantrums of the Crimson Tide players like Malachi Moore explained Pavia's happiness for the win too.
