The journey of Alabama Crimson Tide offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor has been well chronicled between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Alabama. Saturday against Western Kentucky, Proctor hit a major pothole as he suffered a shoulder injury during warmups that got him quickly into street clothes.
Following the 63-0 rout of Western Kentucky, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer was asked about Proctor’s status, “Unfortunately, yeah, he did. Just caught me by surprise, obviously. He couldn’t go tonight. We’ll continue to evaluate tomorrow just to see the severity of it. We’ll kind of know more here as the week goes on.”
Alabama insiders Alex Scarborough and Matt Zenitz are indicating that Proctor’s injury was not serious and should be week-to-week.
During today's media session, head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the reports “It will be just something that as we go through the week we’ll just continue to evaluate,” DeBoer said. “It probably won’t be something early on we’ll be rolling with, but as the week goes on it will be something we can continue to evaluate and be hopeful for.”
With the Crimson Tide having a few tests in the coming weeks that includes a trip to Wisconsin on September 14 and following their first bye week hosting Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the hope is Proctor will be 100%.
With Proctor out against Western Kentucky, it seemed the Hilltopper defense was able to take advantage of Proctor’s absence at times as they were able to log a sack and two tackles for loss against the Alabama offensive line. Will Milroe was able to escape a lot of the pressure, the lone sack by Western Kentucky defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler, who also forced a fumble of Milroe in the first quarter that Milroe was able to recover.
