After an upsetting 40-34 loss against Vanderbilt, Jalen Milroe's likeliness of winning the Heisman sustained a major dip, just like their ranking in the AP Top 25 Poll.
On the Pat McAfee show, McAfee's crew broke down how other top contenders, like Aston Jeanty, Travis Hunter, and Cam Ward, have overtaken Milroe in the race. Per McAfee's crew, the legitimate prospect for Heisman this season is Boise State's Jeanty, given that he has amassed nearly 1000 rushing yards, an insanely high number for an RB.
Although, Ward and Hunter could easily catch up, further thwarting Milroe's chance at Heisman. Ward, on the other hand, has an easy schedule, excluding Clemson and the ACC championship with plenty of room to rake in the stats.
Amid all this, Milroe does not have much room, since Alabama is already considered a top team with a rather unforgiving schedule ahead of them, given their impending games against LSU, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
Will Jalen Milroe have a chance to get back in the Heisman race?
If anything, Week 6 proved that college football is an unpredictable place. Alabama lost to Vanderbilt, who were assumed to be their easiest opponents in the SEC, right after they conquered Georgia, who were perceived to be an impossible win.
If that can happen, so can Jalen Milroe's comeback in the Heisman race. Although they have some tough games lined up, the Crimson Tide can still overpower these teams, which they have proved in their games before Vanderbilt. Additionally, Milroe and Co. have shown their resilience in the post-game conference.
If Alabama bounces back from here, the likes of Milroe becoming the Heisman this year will definitely solidify.
