UConn and Ohio State are among the top programs in their respective conferences, and it showed on the court Saturday evening in Seattle as the Buckeyes came away with a 73-61 win.

With the victory, 3-seeded Ohio State not only advanced to its first Elite Eight since 1993, it also ended 2-seed UConn's almost two-decade long streak of advancing past the Sweet 16 — the last time the Huskies fell this early was in 2005.

UConn was led by Lou Lopez-Sénéchal with 25 points. Azzi Fudd added 14 and Dorka Juhász had 13.

UConn vs. Ohio State live updates, highlights from 2023 Women's March Madness

(All times Eastern)

Final: Ohio State 73, UConn 61

6:12 p.m.: McMahon has fouled out, but her performance goes unmatched. She's finished with 23 points. Kevin McGuff's team is seconds away from an Elite Eight berth and ending UConn's streaks.

Ohio State will advance to the Elite Eight and will face the winner of Tennessee-Virginia Tech.

6:10 p.m.: UConn commits a 25th turnover and Auriemma is seen jumping up and down rather angrily on the sidelines.

6:04 p.m.: McMahon completes a three point play and ends the 9-0 run for UConn. A play goes under review after what looks like Aubrey Griffin pushing Sheldon to the ground. It stand and Sheldon grabs both at the line.

6:03 p.m.: UConn has not been good from the charity stripe tonight, and it's really holding them back. While Ohio State is 18-for-24, UConn is only 6-for-13.

5:56 p.m.: The last time Connecticut didn't advance out of the Sweet 16 was 2005. If Ohio State wins today, they'll be breaking almost a two-decade streak by the Huskies. It would be the Buckeyes fourth Elite Eight trip, their last being in 1993.

5:50 p.m.: "We picked the worst day to do everything we've been struggling with this season," Geno Auriemma said on the broadcast.

Third quarter: Ohio State 54, UConn 44

5:39 p.m.: Lopez-Sénéchal has 17 points, bringing UConn within eight as the third quarter begs to close. She is the only player in double figures for the Huskies, while the Buckeyes have McMahon with 20 and Sheldon with 11.

Edwards is on the bench with four fouls, Juhász just collected a third and McMahon has four for Ohio State.

5:28 p.m.: UConn is catching up with Ohio State on a three minute scoring drought. The Buckeyes have gone to the line 14 times so far in this game, hitting 12 of the shots. UConn has hit 22 turnovers, the golden number for the Ohio State press.

5:24 p.m.: Ohio State has forced 20 turnovers out of UConn for 19 points. They also have 19 rebounds. Lopez-Sénéchal is back on the court and well for the Huskies after the halftime break.

Halftime: Ohio State 36, UConn 26

5:01 p.m.: Sheldon misses the three point jumper and Caroline Ducharme sinks one at the line manages to UConn within 10 going into the half.

4:57 p.m.: McMahon at the line puts Ohio State up by 11. The Big Ten Freshman of the Year is shining on the big stage, confident and comfortable in her first Sweet 16 appearance. She already has 18 points on the evening, but just picked up her second foul.

4:54 p.m.: Positive update from ESPN's Holly Rowe on Lopez-Sénéchal – they've done extensive stretching and she's currently on the bike.

4:49 p.m.: UConn has not scored once in the second quarter. Lopez-Sénéchal is knocked to the floor with an injury. Cameras cut to her on the bench with a trainer gripping her right knee. This UConn team is no stranger to injuries, but to have another top player go down in a time like this is detrimental.

4:40 p.m.: McMahon is on fire, burying a three-point jumper off a UConn turnover to give Ohio State their first lead of the afternoon. UConn already has 12 turnovers in 12 minutes.

First quarter: UConn 17, Ohio State 15

4:33 p.m.: Ohio State managed to bring the game within two points after much struggle. They turn it over in the final one second of the quarter, but Connecticut can only get it in bounds.

4:17 p.m.: UConn already in double digits as Ohio State calls their first timeout, only 2 points on their end. The Huskies are cooking early.

4:13 p.m.: UConn wins the jumpshot and gets the scoring started with a layup by Lopez-Sénéchal.

4:11 p.m.: ESPN's Andraya Carter says on the broadcast that there are only two teams in the country that have five players each averaging double figures, and both of those teams are UConn and Ohio State.

3:56 p.m.: The starting lineups have been released.
