President’s Day brings a top-25 showdown in the Big East, as red-hot Creighton hits the road to take on the perennial conference power, UConn.

The Blue Jays have ripped off 11 straight wins since losing to the Huskies on Jan. 3. Creighton has won its last four games by double-digits, including a 71-51 defeat of St. John’s on Friday night.

Against the Red Storm, guard Lauren Jensen and forward Morgan Maly each scored 20 points, while forward Emma Ronsiek added in 14 more. Those three players account for nearly 50 points per game, fueling the Blue Jays’ offense.

UConn earned two victories on Friday night against Georgetown: an 85-44 drubbing of the hapless Hoyas, and the announcement that star guard Paige Bueckers will be returning to Storrs next season. After missing all of last season with a torn ACL, Bueckers is averaging a team-high 20 points per game; she scored 21 points with eight assists on Friday.

The Huskies have bounced back from last weekend’s loss to No. 1 South Carolina with a pair of lopsided victories.

Back on Jan. 3, UConn stormed into Omaha and walloped Creighton, 94-50. Bueckers had 24 points while the Blue Jays shot just 25% from the field and 17% from beyond the arc.
