Former UCLA star basketball player and Sacramento King Tyler Honeycutt was found dead after a standoff with police, according to multiple reports, including the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to LAPD, a male suspect in his 20s, later identified as Honeycutt, was involved in an "Officer-involved shooting" at Riverside Drive and Tyrone Avenue in Sherman Oaks, Calif. Police reported to Honeycutt's residence at 5 p.m. local on Friday after Honeycutt's mother called, saying her son was acting erratically. He reportedly opened fire on police, prompting return fire, before barricading himself inside.

LAPD then reported that a SWAT team entered the residence to find Honeycutt dead on the scene.

Honeycutt played at UCLA in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, earning a spot on the Pac-10 all-freshman team in his first year. As a sophomore, he averaged 12.8 points, 2.8 assists and 7.2 rebounds a game, earning All-Pac-10 honors. He declared for the NBA after his sophomore campaign, getting drafted by the NBA's Sacramento Kings.
He spent two years in the NBA before playing basketball in Europe from 2014-18. He spent time with EuroCup team BC Khimki (2014-15) and EuroLeague's Khimki Moscow Region (2015-16, 17-18) and Anadolu Efes (2016-17).
