Second-ranked Purdue has its sights on a national title, and the Boilermakers will look to win their ninth straight game when they host Minnesota on Thursday.

The Boilermakers rolled past in-state rival Indiana, 79-59, on Saturday night in Mackey Arena. Purdue swept the season series with Indiana, winning both games by 20 or more points for the first time since the 1933-34 season.

The Boilermakers' eight-game win streak is now the seventh longest active streak in the country. Purdue has also won 13 straight home games.

Center Zach Edey, the reigning National Player of the Year, became the first Purdue player to record five double-doubles against Indiana. In his last four games against Indiana, Edey is averaging 29.5 points, 15.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.

Edey moved into fourth place on the school's career scoring list with 2,091 points, passing Dave Schellhase (2,074 points). He is now 45 points behind E'Twaun Moore for third.

Since coach Matt Painter's second year (2006-07), Purdue has won 217 conference games, which is tied with Wisconsin for the most in the Big Ten during that span.

Minnesota is not having that same success; it fell to 15-8 overall and 6-6 in the Big Ten with a 90-85 loss to Iowa on Sunday.

The Gophers snapped a three-game winning streak and squandered a chance for its second straight Quad 1 win after beating Michigan State, 59-56, on Tuesday.

Minnesota forward Dawson Garcia scored 18 points but was out for the final 15:45 of the game with an undisclosed injury. The Gophers then missed 16 of its final 20 shots as Iowa came back to sweep the season series.

Braeden Carrington also scored 18 points for Minnesota, which led at the half for the first time in a Big Ten game this season.
